Rusted Metal Ginkgo Leaf
Nature inspired, these leaves are part of a large collection and can be hung outdoors or in. An irregular steel frame, 3/4''deep, supports a single leaf silhouette. As leaves are hand-cut and frames are individually formed, no two are exactly alike. Leaves are slightly hammered to give an organic shape, then left unsealed so it develops a natural rust patina. This piece hangs from a single sawtooth hanger hidden behind the leaf. Stainless steel pins hold frame away from the wall, creating interesting visual depth as well as adding protection to wall. This design is available in small (approx. 13'' x 13'' frame) or large (approx. 20'' x 20'' frame). Can be left outdoors year around with no maintenance required. If used inside, we recommend sealing with a clear finish designed for metal, to minimize scaling.
About the Artist
We are a husband and wife team who are the sole designers and makers of this extensive body of work. Who knew when John gave Heather a welder for a birthday present that it would evolve into all this. After 20 years, we are still enjoying the process of bringing a new design to life .
We make everything at our studio on the family farm. Both of us are “tool junkies” and have kitted out our workshop with a wide variety of metal and woodworking equipment. This has allowed us to continue to expand the scope and style of work we do. From large, custom wall sculptures to easy-to-ship clocks and mirrors, to serving utensils and jewelry, we are continually adding new designs into the mix. Top it off with one of a kind wood and steel tables, and you have Metallic Evolution.
